change mood
The only good thing was the very comfortable bed. Other than that I found it unwelcoming, uncomfortable, cramped and awkward (getting past the loo and shower), complicated, unfriendly (must be something wrong in my psyche I know but I actually like to speak to humans), and above all very very noisy - I heard doors, voices in coridor, other people's loo, the whirr of electronic window shades etc. etc. all night
Design of the hotel was brilliant, loved everything about the room esp. the huge bed and pillows. Rainfall shower was great, and I didn't have trouble preheating the water (as someone else posted on this page)-- simply let it heat whilst on the handset dial, then when warm enough, switch to rainfall mode and voila! Liked the wide range of tv channels and free movies on demand.
Pros - design of the public areas; very comfortable, with a fun design. The 'sitting room' feel is much cosier and welcoming than a traditional hotel lobby. - friendly staff who were all kind to my one-year-old - the mood pad, lighting, music, free on-demand movies, etc - huge bed Cons - Problems with the cyber cafe computers;
Stayed one night at Citizen M, but would have stayed more! It has a quick ride from the airport into the city and we had one afternoon and evening in Amsterdam. The hotel was great, small room, but super cool - just how I imagined. Phillips mood pad was neat, big comfy bed, rain shower, sink, and toilet: that's all we needed! We caught a great sale and our stay was a steal. I love the way they themed the hotel, with quotes about travelling, witty logos and drawings, and contemporary furniture and Mac computers with free Internet. Would stay here again!
The self check-in is great and simple to use. The room is small. If you are planning to stay here for the fist time with a partner and 2 or 3 sets of luggage there is almost no room to maneuver, really!!!.
This is not a hotel for hanging out; but then Amsterdam is a city worth seeing. So come to Citizen M for the great bed, shower and cafe/reception and high quality fittings throughout. Then instead of hanging around the hotel, go out an explore the city.
I had a late flight into and an early flight out of Amsterdam, so wanted to book a hotel near the airport. The citizenM sounded ideal - firstly, it was much less expensive than the other options, plus I was intrigued by the design concept. It's only a few minutes walk to the terminal, and then a short train ride into the centre of Amsterdam, so there's easy access for sightseeing.
GREAT-Recommended Great hotel- 5minute walk from the airport- friendly and helpful staff.. bit dusty though..but apart from that no problems.
I have stayed at this hotel before when it has newly opened. The hotel rooms are translucent thereby making it awkward to stay with someone other than your spouse.
Let me start of by saying the concept of citizenM is great. The rooms look absolutely amazing and are fun to stay in. However, it doesn't live up to the luxury it claims to provide.
CitizeM is in a nice urban location within 15 minutes from the centre by tram (stop just in front of Hotel), 5 minutes walk to RAI Conference Centre and 1 minute from the World Trade Centre.
This is truly one of the most unique and convenient hotels I've ever stayed in. From the effortless check-in, to your smooth check-out...the whole stay is an adventure.
We liked everything about the hotel - you can have as much or as little contact with the staff as you prefer (for me, almost none). The concept is great: thoughtfully-designed rooms that are both beautifully simple and comfortable, and although they are modular they allow for customization. We had everything we needed and wanted, and at such a great price! We would love to see hotels like this everywhere!!
This is what a 21st century hotel should be! You have everything you need in a beautiful modern design. Movies & internet for free, a great shower and a perfect bed. Simply perfect and for a very reasonable price. They should build it everywhere and not only near an airport :-))))
Easy check in lift to room.Everything you would need in the room big bed shower safe tv etc perfect im a big guy and was worrid that it would be to compact and small but was loverly.
rooms are small, great fun concept, attentive staff, self check-in, big comfortable beds, great pillows, good temperatures, windows can not be open so if you are claustofobic, avoid this hotel, colorful lights, good choice of music in room and a good view over the airport, short walking distance to the hotel, warm, welcoming, cosy lobby and internet cafe as well as a good choice of food and beverages, well a little bit pricey!
This is change-management live - very good concept and tough and straight forward implementation - very good and highly recommendable :)
What a great place to stay. Walking distance from the airport, super hi-tech (totally cool), very friendly and helpful staff, clean, great view from our window and very quiet. We will stay here anytime we go to Amsterdam.
If you are looking for convenience and speed, CitizenM is the place to go. Very conveniently located near the departure hall of Schiphol (250M walk) it offers a new room experience. A huge bed, color LED lighting and unconventional Shower and Toilet "colums" in the middle of the room.
Overall, we had a great stay at CitizenM. We stayed for 3 nights and were allowed check in at 10 am and a late checkout of 1pm at no extra cost, which was great! The rooms are compact and although there is plenty of space for one person after 3 nights with anyone no matter how much you love them you can feel a bit caged in!!
if you are travelling and need to stay at an airport hotel... make sure that you fly through Schipol!
an excellent place so close to the departure hall of Schiphol to start your holiday if your plane leaves very early in the morning. In this way you can have a good sleep and wou don't have to get up to early in the morning. the rooms are good, clean have have all the necessary faclities for one night.
They say you get what you pay for but you get a whole lot more than your money's worth here. Everything you want, nothing you don't need but have to pay for elsewhere. And it is such a FUN place to stay. We were there on honeymoon - I already want to book an anniversary stay for next year.
We loved the comfortable bed and absolute quiet of this hotel.. The room is very small, though we managed even with a lot of luggage for one night as we passed through Amsterdam.
I am not sure where to start. If you are over 35 you will probably remember Logans Run, it was a space like programme from the 70's (google it) anyway that and similar programmes is what comes to mind when I tried to explain this Hotel to friends & family,
I commute from Glasgow to Amsterdam (stay Monday to Thursday) every week and work round the corner from the Citizem M. Over the past 20 weeks I have stayed in 16 different hotels none for more than 1 week as there is always issues, to far away, to noisey, dirty, rubbish service, some have been average but none have been Good or very good. Great Location for WTC and takes 20mins on a Tram (costs about 1 Eur) to city centre.

My husband and I stayed here from June 24th to June 27th and found it an excellent place to stay. I had been following this hotel through Trip Advisor and find it interesting to read the many reviews. We are in our late 60's and early 70's and would stay here again.
