Greatly adjusted for a solo traveler!

Perfect setting for one or two nights as a buisness traveler. Nice ambience in both rooms and lobby. Good layout of cafeteria area as a base for spontanious talks with other buisness travelers.

Location, location, location!

Beside the great design and all the wannahaves in this hup hotel, the most important and biggest plus is its location. You are (almost) staying at the airport. Just a 3 minute walk from the departure-hall, and that walkway is roofed as well, so you are practically in already.

LOVED THIS HOTEL!

This hotel is incredible! You can't beat the price. The rooms are completely quiet with no airport noise whatsoever. They are compact but ultra modern. The showers are wonderful. The staff is outstanding. Free internet and free movies. Very comfortable bed. Bar is open 24 hours and there is a cafeteria style restaurant with everything from pasta to sushi. The public areas of the hotel are very comfortable.

believe the reviews

After reading the other reviews we were expecting something special, and we were not disappointed. The staff, sorry ambassadors, were there when needed, and were always willing to help. Provided that you are onboard with modern technology you will be at home in this hotel.

an amazing hotel, got to be seen to be believed

we arrived in Amsterdam for a weekend away with friends, both couples, not sure what to expect. We had booked this hotel in May with no reviews, so we was worried but looking forward to it. The hotel pictures looked very interesting. We was over the moon with the hotel. Rooms are not amazingly big but there is a place for everything and your not there to see the room, Amsterdam has so much to see. This is a very moderrn new hotel.

A great place to stay in Amsterdam!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Citizen M. The rooms, although compact, were fascinating in size, design, and technology. I particularly enjoyed the "wake up call." Amazing. The fact that you could customize the room to your tastes and preferences added to the room's uniqueness.

Groovy.

Really a wonderful way to spend an evening at the airport. We arrived early and took the train into Amsterdam- hung out there then back to our cool room to relax and watch TV(in English) - What a load off my mind not to get up at the crack of dawn to make our next mornings flight. If the idea of staying in a hotel by the airport scares you - this place will change your attitude.

We'll be back!

A very peasant surprise. We stayed her for 3 nights. Exellent and innovative rooms. We loved the design and functionality of both the rooms and the rest of the hotel. Easy access to the city by Tram(5) or by metro. Pleasant and relaxed neighborhood. We also found a very nice local cafe called Fidelios.

Excellent room, disappointing breakfast

Room has everything you need when you just need to spend a night after/before flight. Excellent location, nice view on Shiphol airport. Only disappointing breakfast; items not fresh and coffee not good at all. With such a trendy place, i would have expected the same in food (quality)

Very nice

The hotel is very nice. The room is small but effective. The location is great, near the terminal, but it is a little bit further to walk as they mentioned. The check in and out is very easy. The interior is very trendy.

Fun-loving couples will love this hotel

We simply loved this superb design hotel. It's true the rooms are more for couples or singles as too intimate otherwise but it's definitely a great deal and experience. We even looked for the same hotel elsewhere ... there will be more of them soon around Europe. The distance to the centre is about 20 min by tram so no prob. The hotel doesn't have its own parking but possible to park across the street and pay at the machine. We will definitely stay here again!

very cool modern space with giant bed

a small room for those traveling light... a bit of a walk to places, but right on the 5 tram line... and not a bad bike away from tourist stuff. Hotel was very cool, maybe the coolest place I have ever stayed.... the room is very intimate, with a very big bed, so nice. the shower is in the center of the room with clear glass around...

nice concept, better than F1 etc...

Cheap and cheerful hotel with many + points. I would advice this hotel to anyone who is just staying for a night or two. Loved the star trek shower and toilet.

Amasing design experience!

I was surprised with the overall experience: great location (just 5 min from the Amsterdam Zuig station) and 10 min from the city center by train/metro, you have a 24h buffet available (with great prices and very good quality), a multicultural and wellcoming staff and the rooms are amasing: very confortable, modern feeling and efficient! If you enjoy design, you need to experiment CitizenM Hotels, its a new concept that brings design, confort and quality together.

Great value,location and fun

UPSIDE: You can't get as nice a place in Amsterdam for the price. It is fun with the gadget that controls the room lighting (color and intensity), TV, shades and temperature. I am not a techie and I figured out the room controller in a few minutes. The location is a 20 minute walk to the museum area and 30 to central Amsterdam- through a beautiful residential neighborhood with many upscale stores and very good casual restaurants.

Perfect choice - for morning flights

The location is perfect when you are staying the night to catch a morning flight. The technology in the room is fun to use and play with. The lobby area is good with bar, snacks, several Macs that the guests can use for free.

will stay at CitizenM again on my next trip to Amsterdam

The hotel is quite non-conventional in its "high-tech" style. The room I stayed in was on a smaller side, but it has a very large and comfortable bed, good LCD TV, free WiFi internet, safe box and standard amenities. Did I mention very inexpensive phone calls (unheard of for a hotel service)?

Definitely cool and low rates

The Citizenm at Amsterdam City is a design hotel at a very attractive price. Rooms are small but adequate. If you want a relatively chip hotel that is good looking and cool, this is the place to go. If you want a lot of personal service, this is not for you.

Citizen M puts the M into fun!

We had the pleasure to stay for longer time and we have come to the conclusion that of all the hotels in the world ( and we know quite a few) there is not one that matches the philosophy of pleasing the guest as well as this hotel. kudos to not only to the staff, but also to the management which obviously knows how to inspire them.

Maybe not for everyone, but we loved it

If your looking for a traditional hotel, then maybe this isn't the place for you. But we loved it! The decor and atmosphere were awesome, and the location was perfect for our early morning flight.

Great and sour points

Id say it JUST about gets 4 out of 5. Good bits: The bed was FANTASTIC and huge, the decor was all new, very very clean, snazy and comfortable, good choices on tv including BBC1/2/3 2 sports channels and free movies, free good working WiFi.

Made Me Smile

I liked this Hotel so much i videod it to show my wife. Half the price of other local hotels, ideal for a short stop over. Free wi-fi, free access on I-Macs, television knew I spoke english and put English channels first. A well thought out experience.

Awesome

Really loved this place!!! Rocked up late one evening with a partially assembled bike and loved every minute. It's a very short walk from the airport, and well signposted so impossible not to find. The forbidding exterior hides an amazing lobby with a chic bar, free internet access, a lounge area etc all really cool and hip. The barman didn't bat an eyelid about finding secure storage for my bike, which was much appreciated.

Trendy and Perfect Place

We were there 1 night and wish for more, only 1 stop by train from Schippol Airport (buy your train ticket from counter with real people in it, if you use NS machine, it wont accept your Visa unless its Visa issued by Dutch Bank). Modern hotel and very convenient, Tram No 5 only a few step away and you are in the City already (buy a 24 Hour ticket), shower is excellent but if you are going with a new girlfriend, then the toilet would be an issue (haha) but there is a curtain for courtesy, shower is excellent (except the 'rain shower' wasn't as powerfull as expected though, a real pity).

Fabulous place

What a wonderful hotel; lots of rather splendid things in it, and other reviewers have said lots of things about it. I particularly enjoyed the whole experience, and the decor of the place (including the large, expansive bottom floor which was a great base to do some work). The branding is brilliantly done; cheeky little messages everywhere (in the elevator or even in your room receipt).

Cool Cool Cool

Great place, love the concept and the tech all works! Great value and just what you claim it is - good price, great design, attention to detail and all the rubbish we never need cut out. Via citizens Via!

very cool

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst in Amsterdam on business. The hotel is near to the tram and a 5 minute walk to the metro. Rooms are spacious and the bed is massive. A selection of English t.v channels which is very rare in Europe. Not your standard hotel or business hotel by far, but a fun hotel for people wanting something a bit different.

Modern, comfortable, fantastic - gadget lover's dream!

Incredibly futurist hotel, full of all mod cons. Starting from the computerised checkin to the remote control operated room, this hotel is loads of fun, utterly delightful and really comfortable. The bed was super spacious, the pillows were great, the room was clean.

An excellent place to rest my head

I stayed here by accident rather than design, but I'm very glad that I did. After flying into Amsterdam late one weekday evening, I found myself locked out of my accommodations by an overzealous painter. Needing somewhere to stay, and having heard about citizenM previously, I was impressed by managing to get a room for that night for under one hundred euro.

Design and comfort...crazy place...

This Hotel was highly recommended by a colleague of mine. so i decided to stay there and...wow.

This is amazing. the whole concept is so special, so new, it feels like you are entering the next century.... really. If this is the way Hotels will look like in the near future, well go for it, I am ready.

A hotel like nothing I've ever stayed in before

Friendly staff with a warm welcome and a good atmosphere around the bar. Excellent location, only a 5 minute walk from Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Room was chic, with domes for the shower and toilet. The 'rain like' shower was a slight disappointment, I ended up using the hand shower second time round. The bed was very comfortable, and spacious with big pillows adding to the comfort.

A fun hotel

We only stayed here for one night, but it was a very pleasant experience. The thing I like best is the lobby which is filled with great design furniture by Vitra. The lobby doubles as a great espresso bar and a iMac internet access point. The rooms are pleasant as well, having a very large bed, a big TV and nice, moody lightning. The cylinders with the shower and the toilet are cleverly made. Overall I think this really is a great concept.

Small rooms, minimalist but chic

This is an interesting budget hotel - it is right on site at the airport and has some nice design features. For a business travel it is not really functional. The rooms are tiny with two or three hangers and no real place to store anything. The cafe/food is very limited. There is no fitness center or laundry.

Not my cup of tea

Well I'll say this........it's different. You'll either love it or hate it. For me it was a vision of hell, from the impersonal touch-screen check-in to the ghastly food vending machines. The designers have gone for all out modernity which can be summarized by "looks great but doesn't work". Many of the room lighting, music, entertainment options are way to complicated for an overnight stay - more in keeping with a penthouse apartment than an airport hotel.

Totally different

Having seen the hotel on the internet I was really curious to see what it would be like. We had just stayed in a pretty traditional hotel in Brussels and were looking forward to the citizenM experience.

Definitely worth coming back!!!!!!

We had a lovely experience at the citizen M. The interior decoration was absolutely gorgeous, very modern. The staff was very polite and friendly and the food was also very delicious, a little expensive, but what can you expect in a hotel like this.

Fabulous airport hotel. Easy check-in, very comfortable rooms. Quite fun, too.

Cool, convenient, friendly!

Who knew you could have such a great night at an airport hotel. Having an early flight out of Schiphol, we decided to stay at a hotel by the airport. We were prepared for a simple, no-frills stay and instead we got a totally hip, fun and delightful night at the citizenM. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Great Futuristic Hotel

You check yourself in and out, digitally. When you enter the room, you feel young whatever age you have. The staff is very friendly. I can really recommend this hotel for your overnight at Shiphol, The Netherlands.

Excellent Hotel, very convenient and quiet

Easy walk into Schiphol and train connections - made trip into Amsterdam and Leiden. Check-in and out very simple -- stayed 2 nights - quiet and modern - loved the remote and the colour light settings over the shower and toilet. If you travel with another person be certain you are both comfortable with glass enclosure for toilet and shower.

This is a fun hotel, great for young couples

We booked our stay online for ?71 per night for three nights and had great fun, We loved the CitizenM concept, particularly the room remote, the themed wake-up alarms (the countryside theme was mellow), and free on-demand movies. I can't comment on the catering as we didnt try the food, preferring to go into town for a pancake!

Something Different

We really loved this hotel. The concept is excellent, and some of the small touches and attention to detail really made the hotel almost one of the highlights of our trip. Granted, there are a few downsides, but overall they were not that bad (given the length of our stay - 3 nights).
