Not nearly as good as you expect.

Stayed for one night on a short business trip on the 29th of October. The check-in to the hotel you do it yourself on a GUI guided by the staff, which where not too enthusiastic or very understanding. A kind of techno-arrogance towards my colleague who is not as techno-savvy as I am, this bothered me a bit.

A well thought out and original concept

I booked this hotel initially on the basis of it's low cost and value for money. On previous trips to the city, we have stayed in a more central location (Hotel Misc) but having got to know the centre well, this was an attractive and good value option.

The most interesting hotel ever!

When booking our holiday to Amsterdam, I chose to book CitizenM as it looked fun, exciting and different (and was affordable and you didnt have to share a bathroom which seemed difficult enough to come across in this city). We arrived at Central Station as we missed our stop in Zuid, and hopped straight into a taxi to bring us to the hotel.

Wow - wish Citizen M Hotels were in every city

This is a great concept for an inexpensive city stay which is excecuted excellently. My room was very comfortable with every facility that I need, free wifi, good shower and freebies, nice TV, an in room safe, quiet and spacious enough. The lobby area is excellent with a good cafe with a Japanese-ish menu, good coffee and loads of space to sit , work, chat and meet.

Great experience at Citizem M

Citizen M was an excellent hotel and great value. The tram 5 stopped right outside and was a short ride into town. we walked into the centre too, which was about a 40 minute walk but with lots of shops and restaurants along the way and lots to see. The hotel for us was everything you could want from a city stay.

This is an excellent, unique well designed "concept" hotel. STAY here if you can

I stayed at the CItizen M at the beginning of my business trip for one night to get through jet lag and to get oriented to Amsterdam. I liked staying here so much I changed the last night of my trip to stay here as well. I wish now I had stayed there for the entire trip.

Loved the room

Stayed with my wife and 5-year old and really enjoyed the stay. The room and its "toys" are real fun. The living room lobbies and food\drink area were very comfortable and also offers spaces to work properly. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel - quirky, funky, fun, efficient

I stayed here for work (a conference) in Amsterdam - was here for two nights. I like it - it was the kind of experience I wanted - a hotel that is a little bit "different". It's definitely "cool" -

A very unique place to stay for a couple of nights

I would rate this hotel at 3 1/2 stars. The rooms are quite unique. They are very modern and clean. There is a big king size bed which is actually the width of the whole room. e. There is no place to put your luggage and no chair to sit on. There is a big flat screen TV mounted at the end of the bed with a remote to control the TV, the lights and blinds in the room.

Excellent budget hotel, walking distance to the airport

This is a great hotel, providing all necessities without overcharging for useless things. Just a few steps from the airport. Absolutely no noise from outside despite the runway and large street right outside the building. Compact but well designed rooms (loved the big bed and the shower cabin) and very nice staff.

Great place to stay for young people

The room is small but very neat! You'll love the shower and the big king size bed !!! The multimedia remote control is a good game but sometimes doesn't work properly! The first day, the AC was too strong and we were freezing, but they fixed it in 12 hours. A must to try during your next trip to Amsterdam!

Impressive...

It's new, it's clean, it's quiet, it's comfortable, it's close to the incheck desks, the crew is very kind, the coffee is delicious, and the price is nice. There are not many hotels that can touch all of these qualifications at the same time.

--- Fasttrack11: 24-Oct-2009
Great hotel. Compact rooms, clean and fun.

This hotel was a great find. Walking distance to the airport. The rooms are compact, clean and very interesting. We had an early flight so the location was perfect. Fun hotel. Employees were terrific. We would definitely stay at CitizenM again.

Excellent Value - great location!

We decided to book the Citizen M for the value. Because the price was so good, we didn't expect much quite honestly. However, this hotel is great! It is right at the airport, so very convenient. Don't let this scare you, the rooms are sound proof. We couldn't hear anything outside our room (ie. airplane noise, tv's, showers, etc.). Complete silence!

A gem in an ocean of rocks.

I had been on my own traveling throught Italy following a wonderful stay in South Africa with friends. I had a one night layover in Amsterdam to await my plane back to the US.I must say I was most impressed with your hotel and its staff when I checked in. Katrina was a delight as she explained everything to me.

Style over substance

Perhaps it's my age showing (nearly 40) but this place wasn't for me. here's why:
1. Tiny room
2. No storage space. Not even a small closet
3. No room service

Great for the solo traveler...or a night or two with your partner

We stayed for two nights on a weekend trip from Frankfurt. The self-check-in was easy, staff friendly and helpful, and room was clean, although we both mentioned the halls and room smelled a bit stale, possibly due to improper ventilation. BE FOREWARNED, the rooms are very, very small. That having been said, the bed was nice (and big), and the shower was very nice too.

Ease the Airport Stress

I had to train from Bonn to Amsterdam to catch my flight home - the Bonn plane was sold out. So I came in the night before my flight and tucked into the modern citizenM for the night - easy, comfortable, space-agey. Comfy bed, FREE wifi, and decent (if pricey) food in the canteen.

A unique exprerience

It was an experience not to be missed--When they say it is within walking distance of the Schipol airport they are serious. We were even able to use our luggage cart to get there. The rooms are clean and inviting. It is a long narrow room and the bed goes from wall to wall--It is a little difficult to get into it but very comfortable.

Worth a stay here, just to experience the weirdness!

Just stayed here for a couple of nights for the Amsterdam marathon. Location is extremely close to the airport (around 400 metres), and I barely heard a single plane. The only problem with the location is that you will have to travel a while to get to the city centre. So not great as a holiday destination. But it was nice checking out and then being 5 minutes away from the airport!

Hit the spot !

Having missed a connecting flight late in the evening, needing a room for the night, and after being quoted nearly 400 Euros for one night by the Sherton and Hilton (also within a 5 minute walk from the airport) I was a little apprehensive as I approached the red frosted glass doors of CitizenM. As I entered the uber trendy reception I also wondered what their room rate might be. Needless to say it was less than 400 Euros.

Peek into the future

Loved the hotel!

Good hotel to enjoy a good nights rest before or after a long journey. Good concept: floorspace is expensive: let's optimize that and in return give people luxury. I've always hated those hotel where you get big room with:
*A tv-set with only 3 channels and a non-functioning remote..."Let's see...there is local french tv...BBC world and nothing and nothing and.. ah....BBC world!"
*A table with chairs... "I honestly never sat in a chair in my hotelroom in my life: usually my clothes end up on it."

Wonderful bed and pillows

I fly in and out of Schiphol many times a year on business. One can stay at the Sheridan or the Hilton and pay over twice the amount. Or, on can stay at the Mercure inside the airport, which is a very good bargain, and although the rooms are equiped with all of the basics they are not at the level of excellance that CitizenM is.

An Amazing and Impressive Hotel

We chose this hotel because it was very near to Airport. You can go airport by walk. Although the room was smart, it has very amazing desingn. The bed was quite good, the lights in the room was very impressive. The price was good for this kind of nice hotel.

Loved this comfortable, modern hotel

This hotel was wonderful. The rooms are super high tech, very clean, very comfortable. It's a hotel that really was designed with travelers in mind. We enjoyed our stay here immensely. It's a bit far from the city center, but I didn't mind because it was nice and quiet and there's also easy access to public transportation to get right into the city in less than 15 minutes.

--- kyleracine: 16-Oct-2009
I love this place

If you want something a little out of the ordinary, this is the hotel for you! I've stayed at both the Amsterdam City and the Schipol hotels and they are both just as much fun. As a business traveller, I need service. You get this and a fresh approach too!

Perfect for a long weekend getaway!

My wife and I stayed here for a recent weekend away with friends. The location, while not in the city centre, in my opinion is nearly perfect. Just a few minutes from the train or tram (no. 5) into the centre (15 mins tram ride) and one stop from the airport, there was really no need to stay in the centre. The price was right, comparing more than favourably to equivalent hotels, saving significant euros for our going out budget!

Great end to a 3 week odyssey

Convenient location for a first or last night on a trip. Easy train ride to Amsterdam and walk to terminal in under five minutes

Best Hotel Bed Ever

We needed a hotel by airport to get up for an early flight. This location is perfect as we could walk to the terminal in 3 minutes. The check in is a bit odd, as you do it on a computer, and the entire room is run by a remote. I had some trouble turning on the shower, and had to get assistance while wrapped in a towel. Might not be the best place for someone who is not good with electronics, as it is a bit much to have to use this for all lights, tv, music and to turn on water.

A comfortable place to stay on our way to an African safari

We chose this hotel for the location and price. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet and dark enough for sleeping even during the day after a long flight. My husband would have liked more privacy in the toilet and shower areas, but it was fun playing with the room controls and great to get up in the morning and be right at the airport.

Suits perfect for a one or two nighter

This was our first experience with the CitizenM concept. All in all a pleasant one but wouldnt recommend it for more than two nights, with the room feeling so cramped and for the more claustrophobic persons. After a day or so we also got a bit tired of the conepty theme of the hotel, the concept coffee, concept pillow, concept lighting etc etc.

Reasonable rates, hotel as advertised.

If you are looking for a hotel with reasonable rates, this is it. Rooms are basic in size. Room are for 2 people that are, either related or in relationship. Bathroom situation leaves no room for privacy. On the positive side, it's well worth the money.

Welcoming, funky, artistic and high tech

It is a very modern hotel, self-service and easybility. The lobby area is very cool, nice design and art. Social atmosphere in canteenM. Rooms are very comfortable and convenient thanks to the technology and clean design with focus on well-being.

A Fun Experience for a Great Price - Very Unique!

The CitizenM really cannot be compared to any other hotel, as it is a concept that not only tries something new, but succeeds at providing an experience that is both fun, comfortable, and a wonderful value. I would undoubtedly recommend this property to anyone visiting Amsterdam, as it is great for solo travelers, couples, and business travelers.

A diamond among hotels where I have stayed

You have everything you need, the bed was fantastic. The hotel inside looks so plain, modern, with good colours - no old rotten stuff around. The idea of making the customers use modern technology is very good. Very cost efficient.

Didn't want to leave the room!

Fantastic hotel! The rooms are amazing especially the beds! I didn't want to leave the hotel..... We went for my boyfriends birthday weekend and booked here because we found a good deal. Beforehand, i was a little concerned about not being the in the centre of Amsterdam but the train service is so efficient and convenient that it didn't spoil the weekend. It worked out to 7.50euros return each.

Style but no substance

I was highly disappointed with our stay at citizenM. We booked a room at citizenM at Schipol Airport because we were scheduled to fly back to the U.S. the next morning AND because I thought the hotel looked fun and unusual.

What more do you need, really...?

The citizenM is a microhotel located adjacent to Schiphol Airport: it?s just a short walk from the main terminal and has very attractive rates and modern ambience. I was sent my registration number by SMS, and typed it into the arrival kiosk as I entered the hotel. The kiosk activates a room card: there was friendly help stationed nearby to explain the process and to point out the rooms.

Really good and high tech :-)

A real good hotel to stay when you travel early from Schiphol. Price was good, but prices of drinks were pretty high. Only a three minute walk from your check-in on Schiphol!!

--- Charissa_Roy: 04-Oct-2009
Very different and very nice too!

This is a new concept, but really clever one too. If you are on business this is ideal, and the ratio quality price is brilliant. The rooms are unique in their design, but ultra-efficient. You better check their website to get an idea, quite a lot to say if you want to describe it properly. But it's really good. They do have a restaurant, but it's more like a canteen where you help yourself and get a tray.

Hip & Quirky, albeit a bit impractical

Comfortable hotel with small rooms with a radical design (Step into one for the first time and you will know what I mean!). Location is 5 mins walk from the airport so very convenient for an early morning departure. The lobby and common areas are very modern and great for hanging out and meeting fellow travellers if you want.

Airport Hotel from Heaven

After an eight hour flight from Newark, my trendy pod at citizenM was the perfect little safe haven during my 24-hour layover in the Netherlands. This hotel is very hip and has a futuristic, European theme throughout. The rooms/pods are very colorful and, surprisingly, quite comfortable. Wait til you dive into that odd-looking bed! Don't knock it until you try it.
