Dutch by passport, but more of a nomad by identity, I never feel quite at home and am always thinking of where to go next. Unfortunately cursed with a rather poor sense of direction, and therefore perpetually a little bit lost; the main redeeming factor of which being frequently stumbling upon random new things and places.
Growing up across seven different countries, taking the best bits of each place with me to the next, it only makes sense that I now find myself in London, a city where everyone’s from everywhere except for from here. Being dragged around the world from an early age has turned me into an innate people watcher, and an observer of culture of all kinds, from food to drinks to murals on the wall.
In my spare time, you’ll probably find me roaming around streets and markets in east London with a coffee in my hand, at music nights in local pubs or the occasional warehouse rave, or lost on my bicycle, somewhere between the east, south, and south east of the city, with Google maps saving my life time and time again.
In my day job I work with almost all art forms you can think of. I’m not necessarily an expert in any, but I’d like to think I’ve got a good idea of the overall picture of what’s happening culture wise in this city, or at least in terms of everything east of China Town.
A landlocked surfer, in another life I’d choose to live by the sea, but then again life’s not over yet. I can spend hours getting lost in the depths of the Internet, or be out every single day for weeks, only stopping by the hours for some sleep and a quick load of laundry. I enjoy the clothes swap that come with changing seasons, but at heart I’m all about summer. Met zonder jas op de fiets. Bliss.
