Box Park

Box Park

On our way to citizenM Shoreditch, a tar black, two-floor building structure stood out on the corner of Bethnal Green Road and Shoreditch High Street.

Box Park is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and I was very excited to meet it. Shopping and eating in one place – I love it!

If you’re staying at citizen M Shoreditch and extremely busy with little time for souvenir shopping or eating, then Box Park should be your pit stop before moving on toward your next scheduled destination.

On the ground floor, you will find 27 ‘Fashion + Lifestyle’ shops which include clothing and accessories boutiques for men and women. There are also a couple of shops selling gift and novelty items where you can pick up something quirky for a friend or for yourself. I thought both the ‘Play Box’ and the ‘Gift Box by Maiden’ had some fun offerings. We picked up a koala wall vase from Maiden that we are very happy with.

There is also a curated home goods store (Decorum) with candles and plush rugs, a renowned Parisian candle shop (Diptyque) and skin care products from Kiehl’s. For your sweet tooth: An ice cream parlor (Soft Serve Society) that serves matcha flavored soft serve; and a donut shop (Dum Dum donutterie) offering hand-garnished baked donuts and ‘The Crone’ (a baked croissant dough ice cream cone).

Upstairs, you will find three large seating areas with communal tables where customers can sit and chill, or eat food purchased from the vendors scattered across the second floor. I tried a duck wrap from ‘The Duck Truck’, which had a generous portion of crispy duck and was quite filling. If I’d had it in me that day, I would have tried a pulled pork sandwich from ‘Porkys’, roast chicken from ‘The Chicken Box’, and wash it all down with some bubble tea from ‘Milk Tea Pearl’. I think you get the picture; there are a lot of food and drink choices (16 in total!). Oh, and you won’t want to miss the hallway where art by local artists is showcased.

Lastly, if you are in town for a significant amount of time, you might want to check the Boxpark events calendar to see when free live music events are happening.
