A comfortable and friendly hotel. Within walking distance to the Borough Market.
Rooms extremely comfortable, the lounge areas awesome. Who needs a kettle in the room when you can have a coffee in your lounge room downstairs.
Artwork around the building was amazing.
Augustina. Julie. The Staff. The people are what make this an exceptional hotel. Everyone is smiling and helpful. Passionate. When Augustina found out it was my birthday, she decked out our room with balloons, snacks, a certificate for free drinks at the bar, a Citizen M card that was personalized, handmade decorations on the wall, 4! desserts.
Such a nice surprise! When we had a small issue with our rooms, Julie went out of her way to help us—and gave me a birthday hug.
This is the second stay at Citizen M Bankside for my mom, my husband, and me; our first stay was March 2019. I will say that this time we found our first room a bit worn—faucet was wobbly and toilet was leaking. We were moved to a new room though and it was in tip top shape.
This hotel is not for everyone—and they make that clear on their website. No one should be surprised at the absence of a tea kettle or the size/layout of the room. The room IS small—but it works. Soaps/shampoo are provided, towels are large, storage is well thought out, bed is large. However, no matter how you arrange yourselves in the bed, if there are two of you, some climbing over or maneuvering is required to get in/out of bed due to the placement. If you’re 6’6” like my husband, the room and bed feel small. The bathroom provides little privacy. If you’re a single occupant, however, these are non-issues.
The location is wonderful. Quiet neighborhood yet within short walking distance to two tube stations, Tate Modern, Globe, Waterfront, Borough Market, several restaurants. A Marks & Spencer Simply Food is directly across the street with another small market just a few blocks away. Bus stop right around the corner.
Will we stay here next time? That will be up to my tall husband who found the room smaller than we did. If we do stay elsewhere, I know there is much we will miss about the Citizen M Bankside.
The hotel is in a good position for connection, and the hotel people are super friendly :) good place to stay and relax. And choose your mood with the light! You can even visit the top of the hotel next to the London tower ;)
vibrant location, easy early check-in upon arrival. lots of museums and good foodspots near the hotel, transport to the gatwick airport was fast and easy, direct trainline. we had a lovely stay and were also offert luggage hold during the last day.
I think this is my third visit to this hotel. I love the price/value ratio. I really like the simple rooms - with the focus being on the outstanding public spaces. It's wide open and great for a chat, drinks, getting work done, etc.
You really want to hang out there. The modern use of technology makes everything fast and easy and the people are friendly and helpful. I also really like this location in London near Borough Market, London Bridge, Thames Walk, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, etc. Oh, and the blinds in the room make it so easy to get a great night's sleep - even when you're jet-lagged!
great location. excellent bed! small room but not claustrophoby...with a lot of thought in the little details.
great value for money. recommended for a stay with friends ( less for children). defenetly returning
Super cosy XL bed, smart rooms and designer lobby! All in all the perfect hotel for your London trip. Friendly staff and probably the best coffee in town? ;-)
The hotel is located near Borough Market which you have to see.
Also The London Eye, Dungeon and London Bridge is just a short walk away.
We came here for the weekend and stayed two nights, seeing as we only need a room to sleep and shower in this was perfect. The room was actually bigger than we expected and my husband loved the fact everything was controlled by iPad.
Despite being next to traffic, we heard very little, and the black out blinds worked amazingly. We loved the mood lighting and had a good laugh with the "romantic" setting. It was spotless and clean and loved the added touch of skipping getting he room cleaned and the money spent goes to their selected charity. Often you find if you stay in a few hours you end up watching rubbish TV but the collection of movies is fantastic which we made good use of.
We stayed for breakfast and there was a good range of food, I'd perhaps suggest more cereal options as they were all quite seedy and granola like, however breakfast was still good.
Staff were very pleasent and helped us check in easily and always smiled and greeted us coming and going when they could.
We've said if there is ever a citizenM hotel where we travel we for sure will stay there!
