My first reason for booking citizenM is because it is a relatively new hotel. It is conveniently located at north gate which is very near to the taoyuan airport line. Also, it is within walking distance from ximending, a very popular shopping district.
Hotel wise, it is modern and chic with a self-service check in counter. I felt like I'm in a more affordable version of the W hotel. I love the room. First the large window that can look out to the junction is really cool. Also, the temperature, lighting, television etc are controlled by an ipad in the room. You can even mirror your iphone or ipad to the TV conveniently. I would definitely come back to stay again.
This is a short 3d2n trip to Taipei with my wife. Partly business & mostly couple quiet time. Selected CitizenM as my accommodation of choice as I have heard many online good review about them being a clean, upbeat & trendy hotel in a convenient location & at an affordable price.
Location: Highly convenient. Just 600m walk from Exit 7 of Taipei Airport Train Station. The hotel is an easily recognised tall building right behind the Ancient North gate. The hotel is also near to Exit no.2 of Beimen Metro station and also within comfortable walking distance to the Taipei Main station & Metro via the underground walking street. The hotel is also within walking distance to Ximending with many restaurants and food options.
Check in/Check out: The lobby smells great and we were greeted by warm and friendly staffs. The process was self serviced. Just follow the on screen process and it was rather quick and easy . We also get to choose our preference for room at high or low floor and the view of it. Any difficulties there will be staff nearby to assist.
Hotel Room: We had chosen a high floor room (1410) with great view of the river as recommended by the staff. The room is well lid, clean with mostly white as the base colour. The room size is spacious enough for couple but will be rather compact for family with young children. The room is high tech (lighting, curtain/blind, aircon can be controlled by a tablet), free wifi is given, safe, basic toiletries are provided. Only complaint is about the TV channels (Most foreign channels do not have signal or they do not correspond to the right channel indiccated)
Breakfast: Our hotel room came with complimentary breakfast. The breakfast spread was nothing to shout about but the quality is above average. The coffee and juice provided are fresh. But in Taipei city which is a well known food haven, I feel that the hotel breakfast spread is adequate to accomodate most fussy travellers. Staffs are very friendly and greeted us warmly.
Amenities: There is no swimming pool or Gym in this establishment. But that's okay. There is a bar (alcoholic drinks are charged) and "community lounge" at the second floor for the hotel guest to relax and mingle. There are also some desktop workstation provided.
Staffs: All staffs are courteous, warm and friendly. Always greet us with a smile. We also encounter a number of hotel maintenance staff and we can tell that they are well trained to uphold the level of privacy given to the hotel guests,
Suggestion for improvement: Didn't find any hot water cooker provided in the room. Maybe is good to provide that and some complimentary coffee/tea?
Will I be back? Hell YES! I have become a Citizen of CitizenM and this will be my priorty choice of stay if I visit Taipei in the future.
An experience that one should take at least for once. We were awed by its peculiar design and tech controlled facilities, not because we're not tech people but because we had not experienced one like this before.
Our bedroom view was spectacular, especially in the morning when we woke to see the river and the city itself.
Breakfast was good, and bacon was warm and crispier (fresher i guess) than those at other hotels.
Pastries could have been better. Fruit variety was good but wasn't consistent. One day there were numerous choices and other limited which bumped us since we were fruit munchers.
We booked this hotel for our first time in Taipei due to the proximity to the station and a good value for money. Check in and out is done by yourself via the computer and is a smooth process. The room we were first given had some issues so we were kindly placed in another room.
One thing to note is that you will have to climb to get to the other side of the bed so not ideal for older or injured people. Hotel grounds are nice and efficient. Staff is very friendly.
The staff are very friendly and helpful at the Citizen M. The location is convenient, right by public transport, very close to a the metro train lines and right by the airport express train. There are many interesting things to look at in the area and it's close to many museums and other cultural sites.
There's a great view of the river and city from higher rooms with views. The rooms are compact but comfortable, and the Apple TV is great if you have a mobile device with streaming service. Their own TV channels are lacking and they do not have a selection of pre-loaded movies etc like the other members of the Citizen M chain do. The staff are very quick to fix any technical issues with the room and the rooms are properly cleaned and serviced daily should you wish. The food and bar are very expensive. The bathrooms were clean but white shower curtains that hang to the floor were a bad choice, as the bottom of the shower curtain is stained dark brown, which is kind of off-putting to say the least. The fridge is convenient for keeping quite a number of things cold in. The "suitcase" drawer under the bed doesn't actually fit standard size suitcases. The iPad run controls for the room are nice but they don't always work so smoothly. The CitizenM chain has a lot of kinks to work out in general, but it was a nice, comfortable stay for one person in a room.
Perfect location, close to Taipei main station as well as an MRT station. The king size beds are super comfy. We had drinks at the bar one night and the staff members were really helpful, gave us a vegetarian restaurant recommendation.
The rooms are small.
Not ideal if you have two large suitcases. But having stayed in a CitizenM before we were expecting this. We stayed here twice on our round-island trip due to its convenient location and our early-morning flight back home. Second time we had a room on the 21st floor with a view of the river - awesome! This room was also bigger than the one we had first time round on the 13th floor.
We decided to go on a short weekend getaway on a Friday afternoon, booked this hotel based on my sister's recommendation. We expected to stay in a basic business hotel but the stay was beyond our expectation.
The hotel was quirky and fun. They had many thoughtful small details added that impress us. We were impressed by the design and the smart room. Although small, the room had many features that kept us entertained. Staff was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed staying in the common area to enjoy drinks and snacks. Totally recommended for a quick city trip.
Great hotel. Brand new property with cool features. The smart room is so cool. Great and convenient location, right next to Taipei airport MRT. walking distance to shopping district and other sightseeing spots.
