I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights.
It is a new hotel, just opened for one year.
Location: It is located at North gate airport MRT station, so it is very convenient to take airport train to go to the hotel.
Also, it takes around 6 mins walking distance to Ximen MRT station.
Price: it is reasonable
Room: it is clean and high tech, all are controlled by ipad provided in the room. There are no twins room in the hotel. All rooms are double bed room only.
Service: the staffs are very helpful , friendly and kind, I especially give my thanks to FIFI .
I am sure I will be back next time.
If you are looking for a hotel close by Taipei Main Station and Ximending, this is the place to choose. Only S$100 For 2 pax with breakfast. Clean bright functional room with all amenities controlled from the iPad.
Staff are English speaking. However if you like luxurious spacious room, this is not for u.
This is a new hotel chain from Europe and it comes with a new customer experience model as well which is well suited for travellers who are used to doing things on their own. The decor is trendy, funky, and cheerful but also puts one comfortably in place.
There are some kinks which I felt could be better managed. For example, there is no kettle in the room to make hot water, tea or coffee though there is a bar/kiosk on the 2nd floor that sells you coffee and tea. I would prefer to have some in my own room after a long day.
Then there is breakfast which has items that are not inclusive in the price, which is odd if you thought you have paid for a breakfast buffet which has a noodle bar in it but you are expected to pay extra if you want to eat noodles. The whole idea is to offer both western and asian choices for travellers, now it seems that you will need to pay for the asian options. It also seems like an afterthought, possibly because it might be too popular with Asian tourists and the tiny place gets too busy and slow moving (one has to prep and cooks its own noodles as it's self-serve). Then one also starts to question which item is included and which is not. It just doesn't seem right and welcoming for the guest.
Overall the staff is helpful, cheerful and always at hand to help. It can be a tad over-whelming when they are too earnest to provide a good experience for the guest. It's not a bad thing, though.
Location wise is fantastic, it's near enough to the train station and far enough from the crowded streets at the nearby Taipei Central Station.
A nice room if you are staying alone. Small if sharing. The ipad control could not be rotated, a number of channels and radio stations are not working. Bathroom could have more hooks.
I love the lounge, great view.
Staffs are friendly. Breakfast spread is decent. What i could not stand is the lobby lifts control. They are separate... if a lower floor occupant pressed all 3 buttons, all the lifts will go to that floor. This becomes a problem during the peak checkout hours.. Took me >10min to get down.
We booked an overnight stay in this hotel and we loved it. First, the self check-in at the lobby was pretty much new to us and we were instantly given the rooms. The key cards are also cute since they also serve as a luggage tag after using them as a key card.I love the interior of the rooms, they are very modern and the captions in the toiletries are so witty! I also loved how everything can be controlled in the ipad, from the aircon and blinds, to the lights and tv.
Breakfast was also delicious! They have a western menu: bacons, sausages, eggs, everything that we love! Not to mention the view in each rooms, the busy roads in Taipei and a small temple on their side. They also have a graffiti wall outside where you can take great photos!
Just a downside though, all of their rooms are built for only a maximum of 2 persons, and they are quite small. So if you are traveling with your families, this might not be the best hotel for you.
Overall I would still recommend this hotel to couples, backpackers, and solo travellers who want a modern hotel.
My first reason for booking citizenM is because it is a relatively new hotel. It is conveniently located at north gate which is very near to the taoyuan airport line. Also, it is within walking distance from ximending, a very popular shopping district.
Hotel wise, it is modern and chic with a self-service check in counter. I felt like I'm in a more affordable version of the W hotel. I love the room. First the large window that can look out to the junction is really cool. Also, the temperature, lighting, television etc are controlled by an ipad in the room. You can even mirror your iphone or ipad to the TV conveniently. I would definitely come back to stay again.
This is a short 3d2n trip to Taipei with my wife. Partly business & mostly couple quiet time. Selected CitizenM as my accommodation of choice as I have heard many online good review about them being a clean, upbeat & trendy hotel in a convenient location & at an affordable price.
Location: Highly convenient. Just 600m walk from Exit 7 of Taipei Airport Train Station. The hotel is an easily recognised tall building right behind the Ancient North gate. The hotel is also near to Exit no.2 of Beimen Metro station and also within comfortable walking distance to the Taipei Main station & Metro via the underground walking street. The hotel is also within walking distance to Ximending with many restaurants and food options.
Check in/Check out: The lobby smells great and we were greeted by warm and friendly staffs. The process was self serviced. Just follow the on screen process and it was rather quick and easy . We also get to choose our preference for room at high or low floor and the view of it. Any difficulties there will be staff nearby to assist.
Hotel Room: We had chosen a high floor room (1410) with great view of the river as recommended by the staff. The room is well lid, clean with mostly white as the base colour. The room size is spacious enough for couple but will be rather compact for family with young children. The room is high tech (lighting, curtain/blind, aircon can be controlled by a tablet), free wifi is given, safe, basic toiletries are provided. Only complaint is about the TV channels (Most foreign channels do not have signal or they do not correspond to the right channel indiccated)
Breakfast: Our hotel room came with complimentary breakfast. The breakfast spread was nothing to shout about but the quality is above average. The coffee and juice provided are fresh. But in Taipei city which is a well known food haven, I feel that the hotel breakfast spread is adequate to accomodate most fussy travellers. Staffs are very friendly and greeted us warmly.
Amenities: There is no swimming pool or Gym in this establishment. But that's okay. There is a bar (alcoholic drinks are charged) and "community lounge" at the second floor for the hotel guest to relax and mingle. There are also some desktop workstation provided.
Staffs: All staffs are courteous, warm and friendly. Always greet us with a smile. We also encounter a number of hotel maintenance staff and we can tell that they are well trained to uphold the level of privacy given to the hotel guests,
Suggestion for improvement: Didn't find any hot water cooker provided in the room. Maybe is good to provide that and some complimentary coffee/tea?
Will I be back? Hell YES! I have become a Citizen of CitizenM and this will be my priorty choice of stay if I visit Taipei in the future.
An experience that one should take at least for once. We were awed by its peculiar design and tech controlled facilities, not because we're not tech people but because we had not experienced one like this before.
Our bedroom view was spectacular, especially in the morning when we woke to see the river and the city itself.
Breakfast was good, and bacon was warm and crispier (fresher i guess) than those at other hotels.
Pastries could have been better. Fruit variety was good but wasn't consistent. One day there were numerous choices and other limited which bumped us since we were fruit munchers.
