A classic, delicious English breakfast.

classic Irish favourites

Now we are not claiming to be true Dubliners - but, we did have our fair share of Irish staples. Think Irish breakfasts, multiple spice bags, and Irish stews galore. Here is the breakdown of our favourite Irish classics in Dublin.

  1. Gallagher’s Boxty House: Right in the hustle and bustle of the iconic Temple Bar lies Galllagher’s Boxty House, where traditional Irish delights get a thoughtful, modern touch. Being known for their signature boxty, we had to indulge. If you’re looking for that hearty, homegrown Irish cooking, this is the place to go.
  2. XiAn Street Food: Now don’t be too surprised that this Chinese restaurant is in this category. Even though it’s not a traditional Irish dish, the spice bag at XiAn Street Food is adored by locals and deserves to be here. Crispy spiced chicken, fries, and fiery chili tossed together with bold Chinese spices - what more could you ask for?
  3. The Boar’s Head: We couldn’t have a typical Irish meal without visiting a classic Dublin pub like The Boar’s Head. Their no-fuss vibe and local character made the perfect ambiance for the yummy Irish staples like beef stew and toasted sandwiches. And we must admit, that beef stew was as good as they say.

American-style eateries

Even in Dublin we were able to find some amazing American classics that can compete with the real deals. From burgers to the good old American BBQ, we’ve managed to scrum up our top picks here in Dublin. Let’s giddy up for some yummy American cuisine.

  1. Bunsen Temple Bar: At Bunsen Temple Bar, it’s all in the buns (pun intended). With burgers as their main dish, we can testify that their perfectly cooked patties, soft buns, and crispy fries really quenched our American cravings.
  2. Pitt Bros BBQ: American BBQ is sought after all over the world, but luckily for you it is right here in Dublin at Pitt Bros BBQ. That slow-cooked, smoky goodness is their speciality with tender brisket, pulled pork, and a lineup of proper sides like mac n’ cheese and burnt ends. Trust us, we tried it all and it is definitely worth it. And afterwards, you can take a nice digestive 10 minute walk back to your cosy citizenM Dublin St. Patrick’s hotel (wink, wink).
  3. Eddie Rocket’s Diner: We all love that classic American diner style restaurant, and Eddie Rocket’s has it. Burgers, shakes, and fries - Eddie Rocket’s has that nostalgic stop whether you want a quick bite or a late-night milkshake.

  2. Terra Madre: For a spot a bit more cosy and intimate, Terra Madre exudes a welcoming atmosphere while cooking up homemade pastas. Some honorable mentions that are must-tries are the truffle ravioli and fresh burrata. You will not be disappointed.
